Comparing Solaris HS to Second Generation Hyundai Solaris: Price Lists and Features

Externally, Solaris HS is no different from the second generation Hyundai Solaris

Solaris, which replaced Hyundai, has published price lists for all four models. They are produced at the former Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg by the Russian holding AGR Automotive and are complete copies of the familiar Hyundai Solaris and Creta, Kia Rio and Rio X.

The HS model (formerly Hyundai Solaris) is offered in a wide range of versions, and the vanishing difference in their cost is surprising. The basic version with a 1.4-liter engine (100 hp) and a manual transmission costs 2.01 million rubles, and the version with a six-speed automatic transmission costs a little more – 2.016 million. The equipment is not bad right away: two airbags, a stabilization system, air conditioning, heated seats, an audio system. The same version with a 1.6-liter (123 hp) engine and manual costs 2.013 million, and with an automatic transmission – 2.019 million. It turns out that the additional payment for a more powerful engine and automatic transmission is only 9 thousand rubles. The difference with other trim levels is also small, and the most expensive HS costs 2.209 million.

Former Rios are offered only with the older power unit (1.6 + AT), and prices for the KRS sedan are in the range of 2.038–2.177 million, and for the KRX hatchback with increased clearance they ask for 2.064–2.345 million rubles.

The usual models are now called like this

Prices for Solaris passenger cars look competitive. But there are also many alternatives with a price of about 2 million rubles, and these are mainly larger class C+ sedans: Kaiyi E5, Omoda S5, Geely Emgrand, Moskvich-6 and BAIC U5 Plus. The Lada Vesta, which received a version with a 1.8-liter engine and a CVT, will also be a serious rival: prices start at 1.59 million.

Solaris HC – second generation Hyundai Creta

Solaris HC (formerly Creta) is offered with a 1.6-liter engine, and manual versions come only in rich trim levels, so the most affordable crossover is equipped with an automatic transmission and costs from 2.499 million. The version with all-wheel drive and a manual transmission costs from 2.517 million, and if you need an automatic and all-wheel drive – 2.688 million.

Having all-wheel drive is an important advantage, because most Chinese crossovers are multi-wheel drive. Although there are exceptions, for example, Haval Jolion, which looks like a dangerous competitor for the “ex-Creta”: in the 2024 version it costs from 1.999 million, and with all-wheel drive – from 2.449 million. Let’s not forget about the Moskvich-3, which, although it remains single-wheel drive, after an unprecedented price reduction, now costs from 1.59 million for cars produced in 2023 and from 1.655 million for new cars.

A Solaris dealer has also appeared in Chelyabinsk: the first cars have already been delivered to customers. And here are the cars the factories are testing right now: among them is the new Lada crossover and the mysterious Atom.
