What distribution rate for electricity and gas heating is the most advantageous at the beginning of 2023? Look at the detailed comparison of the rates of the leading Czech distributors and save thousands of crowns by making a smart choice.
Which distribution tariff for electricity is the most advantageous today?
If you have been using the same distribution rate for several years, now may be the right time to think about changing it. Over the past few years, tariff prices have changed rapidly, and what may have been advantageous for you in the past may no longer apply today. If you have changed your heating to a heat pump or bought an electric car, definitely don’t hesitate. You can find an overview of all tables, graphs and prices in our gallery.

But which tariff is currently the most advantageous for heating with electricity?
Currently, the D57d tariff is the most advantageous, which is intended for households that heat with electricity (whether it is a heat pump, a direct heater or an electric boiler). The D57d tariff replaces the older D35d, D45d and D56d tariffs and is intended for households that have applied for it since 1/4/2016. The D57d distribution tariff has two tariffs: high and low (formerly known as night current) with a favorable ratio (4 hours high tariff/20 hours low tariff).
You can see an overview of the current prices of electric boilers compare HERE.
During a low tariff, appliances with a higher consumption, such as a boiler or an electric boiler, are usually switched on, and the switching is set automatically. However, the D57d tariff has its BUTs. The distributor can divide the 4 hours of the high tariff into several time periods during the day. In addition, it can change these time periods operationally, which can complicate the start-up of more energy-intensive appliances during the day. Verification of the high tariff is also possible on the website of your distributor.
Photovoltaics may not always pay off
Is the D57d rate available to all households? Rules and conditions
To obtain the D57d rate, several conditions must be met:
1) Slegal installation of appliances
The heat pump, hybrid electric appliances or direct heaters must be installed correctly.
2) Sufficient input power of the main circuit breaker
The sum of the power consumption of all installed appliances or heating systems with a heat pump, including the power consumption of the storage appliance for DHW, must be at least 40% of the power consumption of the main circuit breaker.
3) Separate connection to a system with a separate measuring device
If the heating system is part of the common areas of an apartment building with multiple owners, it must be connected to a separate supply with separate metering.
4) Technically treated blocking of high consumption
The only exception in this case are heat pump compressors.
5) Attention to the change in the form of an electric storage appliance for hot water heating
If you have an electric storage appliance for heating domestic hot water installed in the system, the same conditions apply to you as for the D25d tariff, and the D57d tariff cannot be fully used.
Backup energy during power outages and severe frosts
A cheaper electricity price may not always be worth it. What to watch out for?
The prices of the D57d distribution rate are different across suppliers and across regions. For an illustrative comparison, we will therefore focus on the values of the CEZ distribution area.
