Company vehicles: – 11% in September 2021

Despite one more working day compared to September 2019 (22 days in 2021 against 21 days in 2019), over the month of September 2021, the company vehicle market posted an 11% drop in light vehicle registrations. to 65,603 units including 39,657 passenger cars (- 15%) and 25,946 LCVs (- 4.21%), compared to September 2019. This decrease is nevertheless less significant compared to that recorded during the summer of 2021. Indeed , the Arval Mobility Observatory recorded 39,025 light vehicle registrations in August 2021, down 22.63% compared to August 2019.

Regarding energies, “like every month, alternative engines in 2021 are leading the way compared to 2019, with still triple-digit growth in the business vehicle market,” notes the observatory. Indeed, it recorded 12,376 sales for hybrid light vehicles (+ 280%): 6,568 simple hybrid light vehicles (+ 149.8%) and 5,808 plug-in hybrid light vehicles (+ 829.3%). And finally, 4,428 electric light vehicles (+ 154.5%).

Conversely, registrations of combustion vehicles have significantly decreased compared to September 2019: – 32.5% for diesel (34,793 light vehicles) and – 23.4% for gasoline (12,941 units).

– 7.85% since January 2021

At the same time, over the first nine months of 2021, 600,931 company vehicles were registered with 354,720 VP (- 8.63%) and 246,211 LCV (- 6.7%), i.e. – 7, 85% compared to 2019, according to the Arval Mobility Observatory. And this, despite two additional working days over this period compared to 2019 (190 against 188). In addition, compared to the French automotive market as a whole, car registrations have fallen by 20.3% (1,260,378 units) since the start of 2021, according to data from the Automotive Platform (PFA). .

Likewise, with regard to energies, alternative powertrains are showing significant growth in company fleets with 97,835 hybrid vehicles registered (+ 302.7% over nine months): rechargeable (47,253 vehicles, + 776.67%) and non-rechargeable (50,582 vehicles, + 167.5%), and 29,009 electric vehicles (+ 89.75%).

Conversely, the share of internal combustion engines has declined in company vehicle fleets compared to 2019. In fact, diesel and gasoline registrations fell respectively by 24.64% (350,642 light vehicles) and 18.9% (118 057 VL).

Thus, since the beginning of the year 2021, the market shares of light vehicles have been distributed at 58.35% for diesel, 19.65% for gasoline, 16.28% for hybrid, of which 8.42 % for the non-rechargeable hybrid and 7.86% for the rechargeable hybrid, and 4.83% for the electric.

Concerning the private vehicle segment only, the market shares are split as follows: 36.83% for diesel, 29.76% for gasoline, 26.28% for hybrid (including 13.16% for plug-in models and 13.11% for those not rechargeable), and 6.1% for the electric.
