Company returning to New York soon

The highly anticipated revival of Company, the musical by Stephen Sondheim (music and lyrics) and George Furth (libretto), is scheduled to resume its performances on December 20, 2021.

The show had only just started when the New York theaters were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Iconic Patti LuPone is set to reprise the role of Joanne, while Katrina Lenk (Dina in The Marching Band Visit) will reprise the role of Bobbie. These two actresses were already playing these characters before confinement.

Musical comedy Conpany tells about Bobbie’s (Katrina Lenk) 35th birthday. On the occasion of this event, her friends wonder why she is not yet married and why she does not yet have children. The answers to these questions will come little by little through several vignettes which are as many slices of life between Bobbie and his friends.

Company is a show about the bonds between people and the impact of the friendships we have on our lives, “says Stephen Sondheim.” I’m so happy that such a show is back in the United States after the lockdown period and isolation that we have all experienced. “

This revival like no other was created in 2018 in London. For the occasion, Bobby has changed sex (the character has become Bobbie) and a lot of work has been done to update the show in relation to current society. I was lucky enough to attend the show in London and I just loved it!

Hopefully by December we can return to New York to hear the hits that are Company, You Could Drive a Person Crazy, The Ladies Who Lunch, Side by Side and Being Alive !
