Surabaya –
A director of a company in Surabaya became a suspect after being reported by PT Hatson Surya Electric or Hartono Elektronik. Suspect reported for suspected embezzlement voucher worth IDR 10 billion.
The suspect is Steven Richard. He is a director at PT Surya Kreasi Smartindo. This company is a business unit of Hartono Elektronik.
The suspect is a former employee of Hartono Elektronik. His last position was a permanent employee as sales and event strategy division head.
Martin Suryana, Hartono Elektronik’s lawyer, said the suspect was reported to the East Java Police on January 29, 2021. The report number is LP-B/51/1/RES.1.11/2021/UM/SPKT.
“It was reported last January 29. The report was alleged to have committed a criminal act of fraud and embezzlement,” said Martin, Monday (28/6/2021).
Martin said the case began when Steven resigned as an employee. After resigning, Steven was then appointed as a director at PT Surya Kreasi Smartindo.
“He resigned on August 31, 2018 as an employee of PT Hatson Surya Electric,” said Martin.
Martin also explained that the relationship between PT Surya Kreasi Smartindo and PT Hatson Surya Electric was a business unit. The two have worked together for branding and events that involve a lot of banks.
“So Steven, the director of PT Surya Kreasi Smartindo, is responsible and takes care of everything,” explained Martin.
“Because all this time, Steven Richard is a confidant of PT Hatson Surya Electric,” he added.
However, the trust given, continued Martin, was apparently misused by Steven. Because, Steven is alleged to have published and sold freely voucher without the knowledge of Hartono Elektronik at a low price so far.
Steven’s actions were later discovered when one of the buyers bought up 20 televisions. Not with money, but the buyer paid with the vouchers.
Hartono’s party became suspicious and had time to ask about the voucher. After the buyer was asked, it was discovered that the vouchers were purchased from Steven at a discount of 10 to 15 percent.
According to Martin, the practice of publishing and selling voucher what Steven has done has harmed Hartono Elektronik. Unmitigated, the value reaches billions of Rupiah.
“The loss from September 2018 to January 2021 is IDR 4.4 billion. And it was later discovered that if it was counted backwards before September, the potential loss was estimated at IDR 10 billion,” said Martin.
Martin said, currently Steven has become a suspect. The case has now been submitted to the Surabaya District Court. The inaugural trial was held today with an indictment agenda.
