With the arrival in Mexico of more batches of COVID vaccines in July, the private sector will be able to collaborate in the process by vaccinating its workers, as it promised to do with the 20 million people registered with Social Security, said José Medina Mora, president of the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex).
“The information we have from the federal government is that as of July batches of vaccines arrive where we can participate as a business sector to achieve this acceleration of vaccines to company workers,” he told EL FINANCIERO.
Medina Mora recalled that the private sector, headed by the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), offered the federal government help to vaccinate the 20 million Mexicans who are officially registered with the IMSS, “because we consider that it is essential to reactivate the productive plant”.
Since the end of 2020, when it began to talk about the distribution of different vaccines to the countries, the private sector offered collaboration both to vaccinate its workers and with its infrastructure, logistics and knowledge in the handling and application of the immunizer.
“We will be in dialogue with the federal government and the expectation is that as of July, when a large number of vaccines arrive, we can help in this work, that as we know, the emergency situation authorizes only the governments of the countries to acquire them, for That is why our position with the federal government has been to offer them our help to accelerate the application of vaccines ”, he explained.
It is still necessary to define how that logistics would be, until now the private sector made the general proposal.
“Each of the business organizations consulted with our partner companies and got a very positive response from the companies. It remains to first define the dates and then raise the logistics to achieve this application of the vaccines to the workers of the companies ”, he pointed out.
