Companies see wages as the biggest motivator not to change jobs

About 43 percent of companies believe that wages are the main reason why their employees do not change employers. According to Acerta, flexible remuneration will therefore become one of the most important spearheads to meet the wage expectations of employees after the corona crisis in a tight labor market.

The corona crisis has ensured that many employees have put water in the wine. More than eight in ten companies indicate that their staff has made extra effort for the same pay during the pandemic, for example by helping out where necessary, by taking on more tasks or by doing tasks that are below their educational level.

“In the tight labor market, it will be more important than ever for companies after the corona crisis to let employees decide for themselves about how they want to be paid,” says Annelies Baelus, director of talent center at Acerta Consult.

‘For the time being, less than half of the companies offer their employees wage choices. I expect that those individual wage choices will soon take off.’

The company car remains the most frequently offered fringe benefit: 62 percent of the companies that allow wage choices offer such a salary car. But the company bicycle is also starting to claim its place: with 33 percent it is now in the top 5 of remuneration options. It is still preceded by the laptop (50 percent), the smartphone (42 percent) and the medical insurance (41 percent).
