Companies: Gasnorp restarts works to distribute natural gas Piura

Gasnorp, a subsidiary of Promigas in Peru, announced the restart of works for the distribution of natural gas in Piura with the aim of having an early start-up in April 2021, connecting the first homes in Talara, Sullana and Piura; and 12 months later in Paita and Sechura, that is, the five cities of the concession.

The company has already obtained approval of its environmental management instruments for the construction of its distribution stations in Piura, Sullana and Talara, while those necessary for Sechura and Paita are being evaluated by the Regional Directorate of Energy and Mines, as an entity responsible for approving the Environmental Impact Statement.

On the other hand, Gasnorp’s technical team restarted its activities and covered the sections where the main network will be built, as well as gathering information on the first sectors that will receive the benefits of natural gas. All these activities are carried out in full compliance with biosafety regulations and guidelines.

Finally, the company started a socialization program adapted to the new context that is aimed at peasant communities, district and provincial municipalities where the gas pipeline will be laid. These informative actions will be permanent and at the moment they were executed with 10 entities with the aim of favoring open dialogue and establishing long-term relationships.

Gasnorp will build more than 1,100 km of distribution networks (277 km of main steel network and 856 km of polyethylene networks) that will allow Piuran families to have the lowest natural gas rate in Peru, with savings of more than 50% versus substitute fuel. In addition, the industries of Piura that have their energy matrix converted to natural gas would have savings of more than US $ 40 million.

Investment

Gasnorp has committed US $ 230 million to bring natural gas to 64,000 homes in Piura in the first eight years of the project and will generate more than 700 job opportunities during the construction phase. Likewise, 10 service stations for the automotive market, 45 industrial clients and 640 businesses of entrepreneurs from Piura will be connected.

This investment was confirmed in November 2019, after the signing of a 32-year concession contract between the Peruvian State and Gasnorp that ensures that Piura families can access the benefits of this economic, safe, practical and environmentally friendly resource. environment.
