Companies from the orbit of \”Rosatom\” connect ZNPP to the Russian energy system – SBU

The security service has evidence that companies from the orbit of Rosatom, against which sanctions have been imposed in Ukraine, are involved in the alienation of the Ukrainian ZNPP in favor of Russia.

Literally: “At the initiative of the SBU, sanctions have been imposed against 200 Russian companies that are trying to ‘take over’ the Zaporozhye NPP from Ukraine.”

Details: The companies of the State Corporation “Rosatom” are involved in the “alienation” of the Zaporizhzhya NPP in favor of the aggressor country Russia.

In particular, the SBU has evidence showing that employees of Rosatom State Corporation and related companies of the corporation:

  • assumed control over the technological and management processes at ZNPP;
  • contribute to the connection of the nuclear power plant to the Russian energy system;
  • they are trying to legalize the operation of the ZNPP in the Russian Federation by creating fake Russian companies: JSC “Operating Organization of Zaporozhye NPP” and FSUE “Zaporizhzhya NPP”, included in the structure of Rosatom State Corporation.

Russian occupation groups seized the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in March 2022.

In 2022, Ukraine applied sanctions to the General Director of Rosatom State Corporation Alexei Likhachev.

Recall:

  • On February 5, President Volodymyr Zelensky put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to impose economic sanctions against the Russian corporation Rosatom and 199 companies that are part of this corporation.
  • Restrictive measures will be in effect for the next 50 years and will apply to all financial and economic operations of these institutions.
  • Ukraine, as well as some EU countries not the first month call for sanctions against the nuclear sector of Russia, in particular “Rosatom”, pointing to its involvement in the occupation of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. The disclosure of Rosatom’s role in supporting the Russian arms industry will now increase pressure to include it on the sanctions list.
