October 16, 2023 (Channel 1); – 2022 marked a renaissance for the entertainment industry in Colombia. After two years of challenges, sector agents demonstrated notable resilience and creativity. Festivals, concerts and emblematic events became the drivers of growth that contributed positively to the national GDP.
Without a doubt, part of this resurgence has the leaders of musical entertainment. As is the case of the Movistar Arena, which opened its doors in 2018, and has redefined shows in Bogotá. Over five years, it has contributed more than 445 billion pesos annually to the entertainment sector.
The average participation of international artists increased to 63%, while the popularity of national artists grew by 13%.
The National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) reported a growth of 37.9% in the group of artistic, entertainment and recreation activities in 2022, compared to the previous year.
Another accelerator of the economy are events that diversify and take into account the different tastes of attendees. An example of this is Breakfast Club, known for festivals such as La Solar, celebrating its tenth anniversary as an important event promoter in Colombia.
With more than 12 annual events and 11 restaurants, bars and hotels, they plan investments close to $250,000 million. They have contributed to the growth of the economy and culture, generating employment and aligning gender equality in the industry. Breakfast Club has achieved strategic alliances and brought important international artists to the country.
According to Dane figures, by 2022 the subcategory of restaurants and homes accumulated an inflation of 18.7%. However, with the beginning of 2023 the food sector began to slow down its increase, until in April, finally , low. Since then food inflation was negative. However, it has increased in recent months.
Another of the spaces that has only been open for a year is the MedPlus Coliseum, formerly known as Coliseo Live, considered the most avant-garde multipurpose stage in Latin America, celebrated its first anniversary of operations.
The Venue has hosted 50 renowned events, attracting audiences of more than 300,000 people. The economic and social impact is evident, with significant contributions to the Ministry of Culture and the Collective Copyright Management Society (Sayco). In addition, the MedPlus Coliseum has demonstrated a strong commitment to social responsibility, benefiting the surrounding communities.
2022 was a year of resurgence for the entertainment industry in Colombia. And so far in 2023 it demonstrates the preferences of its users.
