“Companies are cleaning up”: flea market for treasures from cellars and warehouses at the Neue Zeche Westerholt

GE. Companies from Herten and Gelsenkirchen are invited to participate in a “company cleanup” day of action on the grounds of the Neue Zeche Westerholt on September 28 from 1pm to 6pm. On this day, they can hold a flea market to sell or donate everything from their cellars and warehouses that they no longer need. This can be office furniture, electrical appliances, tools, IT equipment or inventory. Because what one person thinks is trash can be a real treasure for another person! The campaign is based on a colorful program with cultural tours, information centers and recycling offers for young and old.

The campaign goes back to the campaign of the Hassel.Westerholt.Bertlich district office, which runs under the motto “What do you want somewhere else?” Steady and out of here!” I would like to show the diversity of the subject of sustainable business together with local companies. The work of the district office is funded by the federal and state governments as part of the urban renewal of Hassel.Westerholt.Bertlich.

Intercity Integrated Urban Renewal Program

The impact of structural change and demographic development is also evident and can be seen around the old Westerholt mine on the city limits between Gelsenkirchen and Herten. Therefore, the two cities have been working together since 2014 as part of the Intercommunal Integrated Urban Renewal Program to further develop the districts of Hassel, Westerholt and Bertlich with a total of 34,000 people.
