Community’s Overwhelming Support for Young Hispanic Woman’s Tragic Death Prompts Fundraiser for Repatriation

Family, friends and the Hispanic community attended the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows and the funeral home, located in Corona, Queens, and were moved by the young woman’s story.

The response from the community was so great that people had to line up to enter the funeral home to pay their condolences to the family.

Her sister-in-law Aracely Ventura Pérez, remembered Yésica as a happy young woman who was always fighting to achieve her dreams in this country.

“She was an excellent girl the time I lived with her, a respectful girl who fought for her dreams,” he commented.

The solidarity of Hispanics has been felt in the midst of pain and a fundraiser managed to gather resources for the repatriation of his body to Guatemala.

The young woman will be transferred to her hometown, Chichicastenango, where she will be buried.
