WEESP – The weather forecasts have made the committee of the Weesperrijk Community School decide this morning to move the King’s Games indoors. Despite this decision, they opened the day outside with the King’s Games song and a warm-up to music.
The toddlers had a lot of fun yesterday during their King’s Games on the square, with various games and activities such as hanging jeans, sack races and an extra large twister game, under a radiant sun.
Activities indoors
Today the King’s Games were on the program for groups 3-8. Groups 3 and 4 were originally going to play no fewer than 20 different activities on the schoolyard, but due to the weather they switched to activities within and around all classes and learning areas. Despite this last-minute change, they wanted to keep the party going, resulting in only happy children on this last day of school before the holidays.

Groups 5 played a lineball tournament in the gym all morning, while groups 6 to 8 held a korfball tournament during the afternoon. In addition to these tournaments, all classes performed various games and assignments in class.
Too wet and too cold
Part of the King’s Games that were supposed to take place in the country today have been canceled due to the bad weather. According to schools, it is too wet and too cold. Because schools have the choice to start the May holidays a week earlier, part of the King’s Games will already take place today. According to the organization of the King’s Games, this concerns about 15 percent of all participating schools.
The umbrella organization of the King’s Games indicated in national media that it does not know exactly how many games will not take place today. “Schools decide for themselves how the King’s Games are designed, so we have no idea how many schools have canceled them. Fortunately, we hear from many schools that they are moving their sporting activities indoors today,” the organization said. However, for schools that have holidays after today, no alternative date is possible. For the other schools in the country, the King’s Games will continue on April 26 for the time being. The weather forecast for next week is good.
