The President of the European Commission, Ursula Von Der Leyen and the President of the United States, Joe Biden have agreed to suspend the customs surcharges which amounted to 25%. Greek export products which are now exempt from customs surcharges are canned peaches and fruit mixtures, dairy products and in particular feta, yoghurt, as well as pork products and shellfish. The value of our exports in these categories amounts to almost 60 million euros, whereas this development should positively influence the value of these exports.

The customs surcharges were imposed following decisions of the World Trade Organization, in the context of the trade dispute related to the construction of Airbus-Boeing planes.

The full abolition of import duties after the end of the next four months is the goal both of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of extroversion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kostas Fragogiannis and of the Secretary General. of International Economic Relations, Mr. Ioannis Smyrlis, through the exercise of economic diplomacy within the framework of the Strategic Dialogue currently underway between Greece and the United States.
