Many Düsseldorf families are currently preparing for their children’s first communion. The festival usually takes place after Easter.
This year, however, the dates will be significantly straightened out due to Corona. In Bilk, for example, the celebrations take place in early May, in Kaiserswerth not until June. Preparations in the churches are also different than usual. Each congregation regulates this differently. Communion classes on site are currently not taking place. In Gerresheim, for example, there are zoom conferences in small groups, and in Oberkassel videos and tasks are sent out every week. Many congregations had church tours and services before the lockdown. However, some parishes will not set the exact dates for First Communion until the next few weeks. The situation is similar in the Protestant church: Here you still have some time until the confirmation dates in May / June. But then also decide according to the corona situation.
