On the first day of the Interleague Development Tournament that takes place in São Paulo, the Argentine teams fell to the Brazilians. Yesterday, Boca lost to Paulistano 71 to 63, while Comunicaciones succumbed to Pinheiros 94 to 60.
Communications entered the field with a good concentrated rhythm, and with Bejar as the main exponent in attack. The locals were successful from a distance, but the good interior defense of the Argentines led to a very close segment that ended 21-19 for Pinheiros.
Those from Mercedes maintained their good collective game, but the three-time Brazilian champion imposed his physical superiority and gained clarity in offense to go into the long break up 35-27.
Through counterattack, power in the paint and enormous effectiveness, the host stretched the advantage even against Comu’s zonal defense to end the period 68-45.
For the Mercedeños, the performance of Juan Cruz Bejar (scorer of the match with 24) continued to be fundamental, in addition to the contributions of Passone and Maeso. But the closure kept the same trend and those led by Jorge Balbis lost 94-60 in their presentation at the tournament. Today, Comunicaciones will face Paulistano at 4:00 p.m., while Boca will clash with Pinheiros at 6:15 p.m.
