Communication with the media is prohibited… Israel sets “conditions and principles” for receiving prisoners

After the humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip entered into force, the second phase of the prisoner exchange comes at noon on Friday.

Accordingly, the health authorities in Israel have established guidelines for receiving prisoners who will be released.

This plan included physical and mental health care, in addition to how Israeli soldiers dealt with prisoners from their release until they arrived at hospitals, according to the Times of Israel newspaper.

According to the report, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Social Welfare began preparing treatment protocols weeks ago, until today doctors and mental health workers prepared to receive the prisoners.

As for the details, after the detainees are handed over to the Red Cross, they will be transferred to representatives of the Israeli army at the Rafah border crossing to conduct initial examinations.

The prisoners will then be sent to one of six Israeli hospitals: Soroka Medical Center, Sheba Medical Center, Wolfson Medical Center, Ichilov Hospital, Shamir Medical Center or Schneider Children’s Medical Center.

The medical staff from the Ministry of Health will also determine the place where each released prisoner will go, provided that mothers and children are not separated.

Close family members of detainees will also be notified of the location for reunification, and then they will be transferred with their families to separate areas designated for hospitals.

All medical evaluations will then be carried out in this area, away from other patients and staff.

The media will be prevented from communicating with the prisoners and their families at first, provided that medical files are compiled for each of them using information collected from Israeli health care organizations.

Once their extradition to Israel is confirmed, their confidential medical records will be released to the relevant hospital.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Social Security had provided instructions to the Israeli army to ensure that the best possible care was provided to the released prisoners before they arrived at hospitals.

The army has been advised to appoint one soldier to accompany each child or family.

According to the newspaper, the instructions stipulate that soldiers must introduce themselves and speak reassuringly to children.

It is noteworthy that the second phase of the humanitarian truce begins hours after today, Friday, with an exchange of prisoners between Hamas and Israel, after the ceasefire entered into force on Friday morning in the besieged Gaza Strip.
