Committee confirms Seide’s candidacy

The election of a new mayor for the municipality of Zehrental can take place in the second attempt. Michael Seide’s approval is official.

Seehausen l On Tuesday evening, the election committee of the Seehausen community, which had been formally entrusted with the entire procedure for the election of a new community head for the Zehrental, confirmed that nothing speaks against the applicant’s admission. In addition, the committee, which is made up of administrative employees around the mayor of the association’s municipality, Rüdiger Kloth (Free Voters), found that there was no opposing candidate for the practicing lawyer. Shortly before the beginning of the meeting in the hall of the town hall at 6 p.m., a look was taken again into the mailbox.

The potential successor of Uwe Seifert, who died four and a half months ago, personally saw the outcome of the meeting as a guest and, after the official part, briefly sought a conversation with Rüdiger Kloth and the administrative staff.

Citizens’ meeting not possible

The mayor of the association also said that the current contact restrictions due to the corona pandemic would hardly allow a citizens’ meeting in the run-up to the ballot. Which, however, is not an obstacle to voting. Because the legislature only stipulates in the event that the applicant or applicants must be given the opportunity to present themselves to the public if necessary. That would not be mandatory. The fact that Michael Silk is the only candidate for mayor makes things a little easier. In addition, the native Saxon, who has lived with his wife and child since October on the farm of his in-laws in Lindenberg, has already been featured in the daily press. Silk wants to introduce himself to the council and its guests at the next public meeting on Thursday, January 21st, starting at 7 p.m. in the Gollensdorf parish hall. Above all, the incumbent mayor Sandra Hoffmann should be familiar to him after she had encouraged him to run for office.

Applicant wants to introduce himself to the council

The actual mayoral election will take place on Sunday, February 7th. The polling stations in the community centers in Gollensdorf and Groß Garz are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. An objection could still come from the state returning office if their concerns about the risk of infection with the coronavirus are too great. The worst thing that could threaten the 600 eligible voters from Zehrental would be postal voting. The town hall doubts whether this is necessary in such a sparsely populated area. Especially since in terms of voter turnout with only one candidate from the experience of the past few years, a record turnout is not necessarily to be expected. Individual candidates always attached great importance to having a large number of votes, because that is, to a certain extent, a leap of faith and encouragement for the voluntary commitment of the next seven years. In any case, the backing of Kloth has silk. The mayor of the association was pleased that there was an applicant for the Zehrental and was happy to work with us.
