Commission VII of the House of Representatives urges the Government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) to control and control the mining management carried out by PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (INCO). This is because the Canadian nickel company has controlled natural resources (SDA) in Indonesia for 55 years.
Deputy Chairman of Commission VII DPR, Bambang Haryadi said, DPR reminded again that the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Arifin Tasrif, will agree on the Vale divestment. The DPR and ESDM have agreed that the state through BUMN must become a controlling share in order to obtain operational and financial control rights which have so far been controlled by Vale Indonesia.
“In addition, we remind the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources that regarding the recording of resources and reserves and assets of PT Vale Indonesia Tbk, they must be recorded in Indonesia’s state assets, because currently they are still recorded in Canada,” said Bambang, in his statement, Friday (28/7/2023) ).
According to Bambang, the DPR considers that it is enough for PT Vale Indonesia to control Indonesia’s natural resources because it has been operating for 55 years. Moreover, this is in line with President Joko Widodo’s determination to take over full control of PT Freeport Indonesia and return the Rokan Block to full control by the government through BUMN.
“Highest appreciation to President Jokowi for his courageous and pro-Indonesian policy for the control of PT. Freeport Indonesia and the Rokan Block. And now we hope that President Jokowi’s alignment will again be carried out for the control of PT. Vale Indonesia Tbk by the State. Moreover the president is very concerned about downstreaming. We consider it sufficient that PT Vale Indonesia Tbk has mastered Indonesian resources, because they have been operating in Indonesia for 55 years,” concluded Bambang.
