The budget for the renovation and innovation project is estimated at 25.5 million francs. The canton of St.Gallen has promised a share of 5.4 million francs. A further 0.8 million Swiss francs come as a federal contribution from the preservation of monuments. The Hof zu Wil Foundation asks the city of Wil to contribute to the costs with a credit of 9.6 million francs, as well as to grant an interest-free loan of 12.2 million francs to finance its own contribution.
The preliminary consultation committee is in favor of the restructuring concept with six votes and one abstention. She proposes an agreement with further requirements for the Hof zu Wil Foundation. On the one hand, the apartments in the “Red Gate” are to be used for tourism. On the other hand, a concept should take up and cushion the consequences of increasing visitor numbers and the associated increased mobility. Barrier-free access to the premises must also be guaranteed.
The proposal will be dealt with at one of the next sessions of the city parliament.
