Commission IX DPR RI Urges Immediate Treatment Efforts for Polio Cases in Central Java and East Java

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Three cases found polio in Central Java and East Java highlighted the attention of Commission IX DPR RI. Member of Commission IX DPR RI Edy Wuryanto asked for immediate treatment efforts so that the spread of the Polio virus does not spread.

One of them, Edy emphasized, is the need for early detection of Polio virus infection. Primarily, the specific symptom that is clearly visible is acute flaccid paralysis (AFP).

If there is a patient who experiences acute paralysis, examination can be continued to determine whether he is infected with the Polio virus or not.

“Puskesmas and Posyandu can be deployed to be the front guard if there is a case of a child with paralysis. Indeed, not all cases of paralysis wither due to polio. However, laboratory examination is needed to be sure,” explained Edy through an official statement received Health Liputan6.com on Sunday, January 7, 2024.

“If someone discovers a case of polio, don’t hide it. Report and investigate whether there are other children who were also exposed.”

Take advantage of the Polio Sub PIN

As is known, the National Polio Immunization Sub-Week (PIN) will be held in the near future to respond to three polio cases in Central Java and East Java.

Edy expressed his appreciation for the Government’s implementation of Sub PIN in areas that reported polio cases.

“Let’s make it a success together and take advantage of this Sub PIN. “We are fighting the Polio virus with Polio vaccination so that Indonesia is polio-free again,” he said.
