Commercial property cameras will be integrated into the Department’s Security Node

After the Magdalena Medio Security Council held this Monday, October 7, in the town of Puerto Nare, Governor Andrés Julián Rendón Cardona announced a series of strategies to improve security in that important sub-region of the region.

One of the most relevant is the integration of video cameras of 500 commercial centers with the monitoring center of the Regional Security Node. This will consolidate the functions of control and judgment in the different cities of Antioquia.

“We are going to do a pilot to connect technological devices that already exist in many commercial establishments to the Security Nodes, to generate more prevention or to make accusations in cases where criminal activities are happen,” said Governor Rendón after completing the meeting with the mayors of Magdalena Medio and the commanders of the Public Force with jurisdiction in the area.

The mayor of Puerto Nare, Juan Carlos Acevedo, praised the initiative of the provincial government and said that with this strategy they will not only be able to improve the security of their town but also of the region.

“We are talking about the security circuit, strengthening it, investing in technology, that we need here in the town and in the region,” he said.

Other strategies

Governor Rendón then asked, increasing the security front of citizens and support networks so that the community, with radios and telephones, are the “eyes and ears of the Public Force.” At the same time, he requested that the Antioquia Segura Military and Police Squad (Empás) be activated for Magdalena Medio.

Likewise, the president announced the expansion of the strategy ‘Jóvenes Pa’ Lante’ in more municipalities Magdalena Medio to, in this way, prevent them from being co-opted by criminal structures, either to commit crimes or to consume psychoactive substances.

“Avoid associating minors with the consumption of psychoactive substances, with juvenile delinquency and also to mitigate mental health problems,” he concluded.
