Commercial events in downtown Nîmes: how we meet!

The Nocturne des Halles will be reborn next Thursday. Halloween, Black Friday, Christmas celebrations: the usual appointments will then bloom again for good on the calendar for this end of the year.

Born in 2019, the Nocturnes des Halles had lived a first year of existence with a fanfare before the event was, patatras, broken down by the Covid. Good news: two years later, the owl event created by the Nîmes stallers returns on Thursday, October 28, with a special Halloween edition. “Then, we will relaunch the rhythm of one Nocturne per season, with a new winter meeting at the beginning of next year”, announces the president cheesemaker Vincent Vergne, hoping to turn for good the fatal page of the epidemic.

Ludîmes has grown up

More broadly, the city center is also counting on Halloween, an import festival, to launch the autumn and end-of-year entertainment period. On Saturday, October 30, the Cœur de Nîmes association, associated with the Coupole (a novelty), is organizing a candy hunt throughout the center. Before moving on with the third edition of the Ludîmes board game festival, which has seriously grown after a year of absence (it will be November 6 and 7, we will come back to it), with Black Friday, a large raffle (from November 15 to December 15) then the return of the Big Wheel and the Christmas celebrations.

End of year celebrations: our indiscretions

After the spoiled meeting of last year, the City wishes, in the entertainment departments, to deliver the package for the end of year holiday period in order to support the businesses of the city center during this period which is important to them. This, in a spirit similar to 2019: a very early launch of the festivities (from the end of November) and major events scheduled every weekend.

“There will be creations of national companies especially for Nîmes”, agrees to announce the assistant to the festivities Frédéric Pastor. For decorations, the 2021 decoration theme will be “green and gold”. The Big Wheel, the little train and the ice rink will be back.

For their part, traders are part of “an eco-responsible approach” for Christmas. The streets will, for example, be decorated with white wooden trees manufactured by the Solidéco integration company.

“After what we’ve been through, we all want festive things, smiles, relationships, notes Valérie Bénier, the new president of Cœur de Nîmes. Our vocation as traders is also to offer entertainment, to bring people back to the city center. “

At the same time, the stake is economic. “For some businesses, textiles in particular, the suffering was significant, continues the watchmaker. Today, we are implementing a lot of things but we are also counting on the solidarity of the Nîmes people, we hope that they play the game of local consumption. Let them buy in their area, rather than at Amazon. “
