Jokes below the belt: When Sharepics rail against parties
September 14, 5:32 p.m.
So-called Sharepics go viral on the Internet again and again – there are currently some in the comments on the Heilbronner Voice Facebook page. Communication scientist Michael Johann explains what this is all about and whether you can influence people’s decision to vote for the federal election.

Heilbronn SPD politicians see the comment as an attack against Juratovic
As a result, a broad front of criticism formed in the Heilbronn SPD bubble. In the comment they thought they recognized an attack on the Heilbronn SPD MP Josip Juratovic, who comes from the Croatian town of Koprivnica. Niklas Anner, until recently chairman of the Heilbronner Jusos, first criticized the commentator and then Throm: “How disrespectful! First move to another country, learn a foreign language and make it into the Bundestag! And you like that too still, Alexander Throm? “
Anner: Racist comments should be deleted, or at least criticized
He then shared a screenshot of Throm’s “thumbs up” under the offending comment. Election campaigns are tough, and sometimes dirty, writes Anner. “But even in such a situation, a minimum of decency should be preserved – also from CDU candidates. Racist comments should be deleted, at least criticized.”
Several SPD politicians agreed: “Josip is a role model for many and speaks the language of the people,” commented the SPD candidate in the Neckar-Zaber constituency, Thomas Utz. “How deep must the fear of losing a mandate sit, so that reading is obviously forgotten before liking?” Replied Guido Rebstock, former ministerial director and member of the SPD. It is absurd that Juratovic is “insulted and vilified”, commented ex-SPD interior minister Reinhold Gall.
Throm defends himself and takes Like back
And Alexander Throm? He took back the “I like” for the comment and responded in the evening on his Facebook page: “I only made the comment as praise for my usually freely given speeches,” writes the CDU politician. “The thought that this could mean a very specific colleague, even my valued colleague Josip, never crossed my mind.”
It was only when Niklas Anner pointed out that he noticed “that it can also be understood in your interests – but does not have to be”. In order to avoid this appearance, he withdrew the “Like”. He wanted a “fair election campaign without personal attacks on the political opponent”. Reinhold Gall accepted this apology and described Throm as a tough but fair political opponent. The comment that triggered the criticism as well as the further discussion below it has been deleted. Josip Juratovic did not comment on the events.
