Comment on the federal election: Now the big gambling begins | NDR.de – news

After the general election, the question remains: Which coalition will govern Germany in the future? Now the days of big gifts for the small parties begin, says NDR 90.3 program director Ilka Steinhausen.

Armin Laschet and Olaf Scholz are so close with their results. And yet their emotional worlds should be as far apart as heaven and hell. Out of nowhere, Hamburg’s former First Mayor Scholz rolled up the field from behind and brought his SPD back into the limelight. And Armin Laschet? You don’t want to imagine what’s going on in him after the disaster of the past few weeks. If he does not want to fall victim to the major cleanup in the Union, he has only one way out. Laschet has to bring about a coalition with the FDP and the Greens. But that will not be easy, because the Greens are on the field side of the SPD. And Olaf Scholz, for his part, will try to lure the FDP into a traffic light coalition.

Scholz has a better starting position

So now the big gambling and the days of big gifts for the small parties begin. Which alliance is there first: Can Olaf Scholz convince the FDP alongside the Greens – perhaps with the Ministry of Finance as a gift for Christian Lindner – and one or two other ministries? Or will Armin Laschet offer an attractive offer for the Greens in addition to the FDP, the Foreign and Environment Ministry for Baerbock and Habeck and perhaps the successor to Federal President Steinmeier? The gifts for the SPD and Union will be large and expensive. Olaf Scholz felt the better position, because he can play easily. For Armin Laschet, however, it’s about everything.
