Comment on Dr. Tirta, Dr. Faizullah’s statement: Money is a good thing, not the goal of life

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA – After Dr. Tirta’s statement on money, Dr. Muhammad Faizullah gave a more spiritual perspective on the meaning of money.

Faiz said that several people are wrong about the concept of money, especially in a religious context.

“There is a lot of misunderstanding about this. In the Koran, money is called khair, meaning goodness,” said Faiz in his statement on the application X @makelar_info (9/10/2024).

He gave the example of several friends of the Prophet Muhammad SAW who were known to have wealth, such as Umar bin Khattab, Uthman bin Affan, and Abdurrahman bin Auf.

“The practice is also the same, there are many friends who are very rich. Umar bin Khattab, Usman bin Affan, Abdurrahman bin Auf are all rich, you know,” he explained.

Even though they lived well, Faiz said, the friends of the Prophet Muhammad SAW lived a simple life.

“But even if they are rich, they live simply,” he explained.

Faiz emphasized that the wealth of the Prophet’s friends was used to fight in the path of goodness and preaching, not to satisfy worldly desires.

“Because money is a path to right actions and life hereafter, not the goal of life,” said Faiz.

According to him, the more someone looked into their friends’ lives, the lower they felt.

“Especially, the friend of the Prophet. Yes, rich, there is a fighter, there is a preacher, there is a student, there is the man who loves his wife, there is philanthropy,” he said.

Faiz said, the real purpose of life is to get happiness in the next life and to do right actions.

“The more we read about them, the more we feel that we are already poor, far from the Messenger of Allah, lazy to study, lazy to work too,” he said.
