Recently, Russian politicians have been threatening NATO countries. Thus, Russia is testing how the West will react to it. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis, reports RBC-Ukraine with reference to TSN.ua.
He pointed out that in recent weeks, several Russian politicians have made it very clear that they are not afraid to threaten a NATO member state. “Today it is Lithuania. Before that, Poland was threatened due to the support of Ukraine. Estonia received, as I call them, passive threats literally today. Therefore, they are checking how the West reacts, how we can react,” the minister said.
He believes that Kremlin mercenaries will not risk attacking a NATO country.
“Again, can he (Putin – ed.) go to war against NATO? I don’t think so. Can he check NATO? Yes, of course he can, he can check NATO. I would even go further and say that he could not not only to protest, but also to break NATO,” said the Lithuanian foreign minister.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania believes that the Russian Federation will not dare to attack Lithuania if NATO’s actions are clear and quick. “Unless NATO can find a quick and strong enough response to show that there are very clear and specific lines that it cannot cross. And we have to be very clear about that. And it’s happening now. That’s the reality,” Landsbergis said.
