Comment by Edmund Pirkelmann (FW) on the report on the district delegate assembly of the CSU in Waischenfeld

A few days ago, at the general meeting of the Free Voters, I emphasized that apparently our political style, which is characterized by transparency and backbone, by responsibility for public finances and taking a position on uncomfortable topics, no longer seems up-to-date. The new deputy chairman of the CSU, Franc Dierl, describes such people with these characteristics as a cucumber troop. In my 34 years as a local politician, this is a new style of how new CSU chairmen try to distract from their own weaknesses and embarrassments with crude slogans. The government declared the CSU’s motions to limit speaking time for budget approval to be inadmissible. The attempt to reduce the municipalities again this year more than 1.6 million district levy on demand and to take out an additional 4 million loans, although over 16 million reserves are available, has also failed.

Perhaps it would have made more sense for the new CSU team to have listened to this year’s budget speech by our parliamentary group chairman Hans Hümmer, who presented the focal points of the next few years, instead of demonstratively leaving the meeting during this time. Our troop, in which many mayors are active, tries to deal responsibly with the money that the municipalities have to provide. Even after the election, we can still remember statements and suggestions, which is no longer a strength of the CSU today.

Crude slogans and disparagement of political companions are certainly of media interest, common practice in big politics and unbearable. If this style, which the new CSU team has apparently also set as its goal in the district, is proof of professional competence, then the municipalities and citizens will still be surprised.
