Commemorating Three Years of the Death of the Legend of Persela, Choirul Huda

There is not much that can be done Persela Lamongan in memory of the goalkeeper’s death Choirul Huda this year. Usually, everyone in Persela goes on a pilgrimage together.

Choirul Huda breathed his last on October 15, 2017. He died at the age of 38 at Dr Soegiri Lamongan Regional Hospital, after experiencing a clash incident with his teammates in the match against Semen Padang in the League 1 event.

Choirul Huda’s departure made all Indonesian football lovers mourn. He is one of the goalkeepers in Indonesia who only serves one club, namely Persela.

Every year all the people in Persela make a pilgrimage together to the 183 cm tall goalkeeper’s grave. However, this year this cannot be realized, given the conditions of the Corona virus pandemic and the players who are in their hometowns because the competition is not rolling.

The CEO of Persela Lamongan, Yuhronur Efendi, was the representative who came to Choirul Huda’s grave. This is proof that the Lamongan football legend is still remembered every year.

“We all know that Choirul Huda is an icon as well as a legend from Persela and for the people of Lamongan,” said Yuhronur Efendi after a pilgrimage to Choirul Huda’s grave, at the Islamic Tomb of Pagerwojo Lamongan, Thursday (15/10/2020).

Yuhronur emphasized that even though he had passed away, Choirul Huda was always in his heart. Going on a pilgrimage to the grave of Lidya Anggraini’s husband, he always gives a spirit of heroism.

“Pilgrimage to the grave of the late Choirul Huda always gives the spirit of heroism to the Persela players as well as to the people of Lamongan, because he gave great contribution to Persela Lamongan,” he said.

Choirul Huda is no longer alive, but he always lives in his heart. In order to commemorate Choirul Huda’s services, Persela immortalized jersey number 1. There is also a Persela training field named Choirul Huda.
