There are numerous events to mark the third anniversary of the racist attacks in Hanau.
This Sunday, February 19, it will be exactly three years since a 43-year-old in Hanau for racist motives Gökhan Gültekin, Sedat Gürbüz, Said Nesar Hashemi, Mercedes Kierpacz, Hamza Kurtovic, Vili Viorel Paun, Fatih Saraçoglu, Ferhat Unvar and Kaloyan Velkov murdered. That is why more than 100 commemorative and discussion events are planned nationwide for the next few days. Relatives of the victims and Mayor Claus Kaminsky (SPD) will speak at a memorial service on Sunday from 11.30 a.m. on the Hanau market square. Prime Minister Boris Rhein (CDU) and Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) are also expected. The victims are remembered at 9.30 a.m. at the main cemetery in Hanau, at 1 p.m. at the cemetery in Offenbach and at 2 p.m. in Dietzenbach.
An alliance in which, among others, the Ferhat Unvar education initiative, the DGB and the DIDF youth participate, organizes a rally on the Hanau market square with a subsequent demonstration. Start is at 4 p.m. The “Initiative February 19”, in which those affected and supporters have joined forces, invites you to commemorate the two crime scenes, Heumarkt and Kurt-Schumacher-Platz, at 9:30 p.m.
The municipal representation for foreigners in Frankfurt is already holding a rally on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. on Rathenauplatz.
At 4.30 p.m. Frankfurt’s city council leader Hilime Arslaner and mayor Nargess Eskandari-Grünberg (both Green) invite you to a memorial service at the Paulskirche. The facade of the building is to be illuminated with the names of the victims and the motto “Say their names”.
