Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny at the beginning of the great war, he refused to undermine the bridges across the Dnieper, considering this a betrayal of the people on the left bank. About it informs BBC citing own sources.
The article says that the authorities publicly urged Ukrainians not to panic, but the government began to actively discuss the idea of blowing up all the bridges in Kiev, which would delay the Russians in front of the Dnieper and prevent them from entering the government quarter.
It is noted that at that moment one of the high-ranking members of the government called the then head of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov and demanded that he ordered the special forces to blow up the bridges across the Dnieper.
Bakanov called Zaluzhny, but he refused to take such a step.
“Blow up the bridges? By no means! It will be a betrayal of those who remained on the left bank of the Dnieper – both military and civilian,” the commander-in-chief said then.
- During May, Russia dispersed fakes that something seemed to happen to Zaluzhny: either he was allegedly “in prison”, then he was allegedly “in Cyprus”, then he was allegedly “killed”, then he was allegedly “seriously wounded”.
- The Ministry of Defense denied Russian disinformation, but the propagandists of the aggressor country did not let up. On May 25, Colonel Stefan of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published the first video with the Commander-in-Chief.
- Zaluzhny conveyed another hello with a smile. New video with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
