Denis Šišovs has been appointed the new commander of the 76th Guards Assault Division.
President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding order on April 18, the Pskov media reported.
In 2014, the Pskov paratroopers took part in the conflict Ukraine in the east, but in 2022 took part in the attack on Kiev and was able to take part in operations in Bucca, where several hundred peaceful people were found killed after the withdrawal of Russian troops.
On May 12, Anatoly Chebaruk, the mayor of the bush, said that 402 people had been found dead in the city during the Russian occupation.
Among the Russian soldiers responsible for the massacre of the peaceful people in Bucca are the Pskov paratroopers, who were then commanded by Major General Sergei Chubarikin, the Ukrainian side said.
While the division was in Ukraine, it lost 18 soldiers, according to open sources.
Nothing is known about Sergei Chubarikin’s future fate or appointment.
Colonel Shishov commanded the 11th Ulanuden Assault Brigade in Pskov until his appointment.
