Microsoft would aim for nothing less than to offer access to iPhone and iPad users to the generous Xbox toy library. A bet that could also materialize more quickly than expected.
Xbox games soon available on iPhone?
The fantasy of many players Xbox followers of nomadic sessions could be realized shortly. Microsoft having hinted that it was going to rely on the new European regulations – the Digtal Market Act (DMA) – in order to deploy an Xbox application market on iOS and iPadOS, which would shake up the monopoly of Apple, the only player to be able to provide access to applications via its App Store. And if nothing has yet been set in stone, the Redmond firm, through the voice of the big boss of the Xbox branch Phil Spencer, would have the idea of offering an Xbox Store as much on iPhone, iPad and Android smartphones from 2024 : “We want to be able to bring the Xbox experience and our content and that of our third-party partners to all the screens where someone wants to be able to play”. It will add: “Currently, this is impossible on mobile terminals, but our ambition is to move towards a world […] where these devices will be opened”.
To be seen if Microsoft’s will will be realized, but if this is the case, then Apple could seriously have to consider this alternative with the most serious potential. Just take a look at the content of Xbox Game Pass, this video game Netflix providing access to cloud gaming and deployed by the American company, to be convinced.
