Coming 2 America: The long-awaited sequel to the iconic 1980s comedy is finally here!

If you’ve never seen American comedy Coming to America (A prince in New York), starring Eddie Murphy as Prince Akeem (aka Clarence, Saul and Randy Watson), your 1980s culture is definitely missing!

Telling the story of a rich African prince who has known nothing but luxury all his life and for whom everything is done for him – even wiping him when he goes to the toilet -, Coming to America is definitely a classic among all of Murphy’s movies.

With Prince Akeem as the protagonist, we follow the young man on a trip to New York (United States), where he disguises himself as an ordinary citizen in order to find a woman whose intelligence and will he can “respect” .

And if you’ve seen and liked the film, you’ll be all the more delighted to hear that the sequel, Coming 2 America (A Prince in New York 2) will finally see the light of day!

It is almost 32 years after the release of the original film that Paramount Pictures has finally decided to sell the rights to the film to Amazon Studios, for the sum of $ 125M! Coming 2 America should therefore be released on the Amazon Prime platform, starting December 18!

The sequel would also be already in postproduction, according to what the American media Variety reported, this Tuesday, October 13, 2020.

It will once again be centered around Prince Akeem, who learns that he would have a long-lost son in the United States, and who must now return to America to find this potential future heir to the throne of Zamunda.

It is in a script of Kenya Barris, series creator Black-ish that take place this sequel to the story of Akeem. The feature film will be directed by Craig Brewer, and will (of course) feature, Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, John Amos, James Earl Jones et Shari Headley. We will also see on the screen Jermaine Fowler, Leslie Jones, Wesley Snipes ainsi que Tracy Morgan.
