Comilog unions are calling off their indefinite general strike

Libreville, Saturday September 28, 2024 (Infos Gabon) – This decision follows an invitation on Friday from the Ministry of Mines to resume negotiations from Monday September 30, 2024.

The workers of the Ogooué Mining Company through six trade union groups including Syltrac, Symiga, Synatiex, Synac, Smic and Strim have suspended their indefinite general strike which was launched last Thursday , September 26 on Moanda and Owendo sites. This, after the decision of the Ministry of Mines led by Gilles Nembe to restart the negotiations, from September 30. A situation that made Comilog sad.

“At most operational sites, operations were disrupted. Comilog regrets this situation and has spoken, today, with the competent authorities to find a solution to this social conflict, while we respect the mediation that was initiated and the rules in force in the Gabonese Republic”, we can read in the press release.

The Comilog communications department which provided the information confirms that the resumption of operations was to take place from the 3rd shift of the day on Friday evening at 9pm, for night shifts and to stop the lowest service that is trade unions announcing that they have implemented in accordance with the law.

The demands made by the strikers relate to the unfair dismissal (case of career representatives), arbitrary and excessive sanctions, the career plan of representatives that has been blocked in the sector for several years, informal temporary work, temporary work and changes to the employment contract against bankruptcy. of the collective agreement, accusations and imprisonment of workers without formal confirmation and without respect for the legal procedure.

The workers, who are also opposing excessive management through dictatorship and discrimination as well as stopping the negotiations that the Ministry of Mines was going to do, are now asking the Director Current management will leave as a prerequisite to resume communication.

Confirmation that Christel Bories does not want to study at all. The General Director of the French group Eramet, of which Comilog is a subsidiary in Gabon, believes that the management of the current ADG has moved the company to the top.
