On the 21st, COMICo closed the transaction at 52,900 won, up 8.74% from the previous trading day. For after-hours trading, it soared to the upper limit of 58,000 won compared to the closing price.
This is interpreted as reflecting expectations as a report that Samsung Electronics and Intel, the major customers of the Austin subsidiary in COMIC, USA, produced a large number of chips in Austin.
Earlier on this day, SemiAccurate, an American IT media, reported that Samsung Electronics recently signed a contract for semiconductor production with Intel.
According to reports, Samsung Electronics is planning to produce Intel chips at the Austin Foundry Plant at a scale of 15,000 wafers per month starting from the second half of this year.
Samsung Electronics’ Austin plant makes semiconductors with a 14-nanometer process (one-nano is 1 billionth of a meter). Semi Accurit estimated that Intel would have entrusted the production of a graphics processing unit (GPU) for PCs.
COMICO is a company specializing in precision cleaning and special coating of parts that go into the semiconductor manufacturing process. COMICO established a US corporation in Austin, USA in 2007. The major clients of COMIC’s US subsidiary are Samsung Electronics and Intel.
The business model of COMICO, precision cleaning and special coating, is an essential technology for the semiconductor manufacturing process. In general, semiconductor manufacturers sign contracts with cleaning and coating companies on a regular basis because when a problem occurs in parts of semiconductor processing equipment that cost tens of millions of won, production efficiency decreases and the cost burden increases.
In the field of cleaning and coating, the company explained that COMico is the only domestic company to establish a production facility in Austin, USA.
When Samsung Electronics completed its semiconductor production line in Austin, the US in May 2007, securities firms cited Comico, the only domestic company with production facilities in Austin, as the largest beneficiary.
An official from Comiko said, “There is no part that can be answered about the customer.”
