The sight of passengers on the Sunday express train from Brno to Pardubice with a destination in Prague at the main railway station is almost comical. But those who didn’t have to stand here for several hours and squeeze others can laugh.
The PrahaIN.cz server was contacted by a married couple from the East Bohemian town of Gingerbread, who were not so lucky. She said she experienced “inhuman” and “humiliating” moments that she believes will not happen again.
They traveled on Sunday after lunch (12:35) precisely from the south of Moravia, where they were visiting relatives.
“I have a problem with crowds, but since childhood, it doesn’t do me any good, I knock myself, I can’t breathe,” Petr Zeman, an economist by profession, confided to the editors. “We left my parents around half past one, I would compare the drive to some Asian country where the police have to coordinate getting in and out,” he added.
“Already on the platform it was clear that it wouldn’t be easy, but I didn’t expect that we would stand and fight for every centimeter all the way to Pardubice. In addition, it was cold outside, and it was not warm inside either. The worst was when you needed to go to the toilet,” added Petr Zeman.

Scary afternoon
His wife Anna Zemanová, with whom we also spoke, noted that the fight “was undignified”.
“I took pictures so that someone would believe me. Fortunately, we didn’t take children with us, I can’t even imagine the horror,” she added.
According to both, the train was not late, but every minute “stood out” with the cramped middle one inside. “There was one lady who clearly had problems with her legs because she was older and she had visible problems, but I couldn’t find a way to help her,” adds Petr Zeman.
The passengers ended up sitting on the ground, but also on suitcases and backpacks, which were said to be everywhere.
It is said that the already heated journey was also repeated in the next connection.

We recently reported that there is a lot of interest in trips to France among bus carriers that travel from Prague. We asked the carriers…
One more week
“Yes it’s right. On the next train, other acquaintances of ours were traveling in this direction and they said that it was impossible to turn around there at all. I have no idea if this is even allowed to travel like this,” he added.
We turned to České dráhy to ask if this situation is standard.
“You are probably referring to the Vindobona railjet train scheduled to depart from Brno hl.n. at 12:38 p.m. The overcrowding of the train is apparently related to the planned shutdown between Břeclaví and Kúty. České dráhy recommended that passengers in domestic transport, i.e. including journeys between Brno and Pardubice, use the freer Metropolitan connections. They always depart from Brno at odd hour 38 minutes, e.g. at 1:38 p.m., 3:38 p.m., etc. These connections exceptionally run only on the Břeclav – Prague section and, unlike the Vindobona railjet trains, offer more free seats. Another option is to use the Svitava express train departing from Brno hl.n. e.g. at 12:56 p.m., 2:56 p.m., etc. (departs regularly 18 minutes after the departure of busy Vindobona railjet connections). The same applies in the opposite direction from Prague to Břeclav,” Petr Šťáhlavský, press spokesman for Czech Railways, told PrahaIN.cz.
According to him, the situation is temporary and only affects railjet Vindobona trains for the duration of the lockout, which will end on October 25.
