Sir Edward Gray Witch Hunter Integral volume 1, the Hellboy universe expands in the integrals
I keep saying there is life after Hellboyand life that is born with more strength than even at the origin. and the adventures of Sir Edward Gray Witch Hunter is a clear example of this. Just as I said with him Johnson Whole Lobsterthe stories of other characters within the Hellboy universe are the best, bordering on outstanding, and the adventures of Sir Edward Gray Witch Hunter are one of them.
I keep updated on Whakoom, The reading order of the Hellboy universe integrals. If you like this whole little universe, remember to sign up for this little link to always be informed of the best chronological way to read the stories that are told, because they all have their importance and their place.
And what to say about this integral? Well, first of all, 6 volumes of Witch Hunter have been published, all in hardcover, which I like but I know many others don’t, because they tend to be more expensive. But let’s continue. The first 3 volumes were In the service of angels, Lost forever y The mysteries of Interra that are contained in this comprehensive, stories that are located before the Hell saga. But be careful, integral 2 will take place after the saga in Hades. You are warned.
The 3 long stories are top billing. The first, At the Service of Angels, is scripted by the maestro Mike Mignola and drawn by Ben Stenbeck. A story that fits correctly with the Hellboy universe. Also, if you look closely, this comic is written 100% by Mignola, and is a kind of introduction to Sir Edward Gray Witch Hunter, in his own way, within this universe. Therefore, it is a blank sheet from its creator so that it fits, in the best possible way and according to his criteria, into this whole world of demons. A great story with a standard artist that I personally am not passionate about.
In the second story Lost Forever, good old Mignola already goes to ask his friend for help. John Arcudiwho is the architect of the Hellboy Universe. I wanted to make a point. If Mignola is its creator, his lieutenant is Arcudi, his right hand. And yes, it is really Mike Mignola who does the work of plotting, but it is John Arcudi who completes those tasks in addition to writing the dialogues. The drawings fall on John Severinwho like Ben Stenbeck in At the Service of Angels seems to me like just another author, an unpretentious author within the Hellboy Universe.
And I have to say that I really liked the third long story, the one called The Mysteries of Interra, and at the same time it surprised me. And even more so when the scriptwriters are Kim Newman y Maura McHughtwo scriptwriters who have not collaborated with Mignola before and who did not sound familiar to me before. The drawing rests on the pencils of Tyler Crook whom we know from The sixth revolver o Harrow County.
Sir Edward Gray Witch Hunter Integral Volume 1 is a great horror comic and supernatural stories that can be read independently, but if you do it within the Hellboy Universe it is much more enjoyable.
