The finances of the ComediHa! are going well and its founding president, Sylvain Parent-Bédard, says he is ready to help artists, employees and organizations affected by the crisis hitting Just for Laughs.
“We [ComediHa!] we have no debt. Over the last 25 years, we have made it our duty to manage our finances in a healthy and responsible manner,” maintains Sylvain Parent-Bédard, joined by The newspaperreferring to the Group’s multi-million debts just for fun.
“In a crisis situation like this, support, mutual aid and listening are very important; if artists, performance halls, employees or broadcasters need help, we will listen, but first, we will take the time to carefully analyze everything,” continues the man who says he is saddened by the situation in which his friends and colleagues from the Just for Laughs Group find themselves.
At the helm of a festival which is very successful in Quebec, Mr. Parent-Bédard has never hidden his intention to extend his activities to Montreal. However, he believes that it is still too early to comment on the consequences of the crisis at Just for Laughs for his organization.
“For now, we are going to focus on what we do best: a comedy festival in Quebec City,” he says. “The comedy world is full of talent in Quebec, we must not question that […] we want to continue to consolidate ourselves as important players in the sector, then thanks to our risk tolerance, we want to continue our growth.”
