According to a recent report, the famous comedian believes that “American chat shows like Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon” should be the goal for producers of late night talk shows. He expressed that while Ryan Tubridy did an incredible job with the Toy Show, the Late Late Show needs a major overhaul. Though he isn’t sure what it should look like, the comedian referenced the successful format of American hosts Kimmel and Fallon. When asked about the possibility of a woman taking over the hosting duties, he responded with, “maybe so,” acknowledging that there are many competent women in the industry. As for potential replacements for Tubridy, comedians Patrick Kielty and Claire Byrne are among the top contenders according to bookies, with other names in the running including Sarah McInerney, Angela Scanlon, Ciara Doherty, Doireann Garrihy, Jennifer Zamparelli, and Kathryn Thomas. Tubridy will continue to host his weekday morning radio show, and in a statement thanking viewers and his family for their support over his 14 years as host of the Late Late Show, he expressed gratitude and appreciation for the show’s tremendous teams of producers, researchers, crew, and executives.
