At the age of 76, the stand-up comedian passed away Richard Lewison the evening of Tuesday, February 27, at his home in Los Angeles of a heart attack.
The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” legend was suffering from Parkinson’s and was planning to retire from the standup scene.
The news of his death was announced by his public relations manager, Jeff Abraham.
The “prince of pain” as he was nicknamed was known for his self-deprecation and played a semi-fictional version of himself throughout Curb Your Enthusiasm’s 24-year run.
Comedy Central even named him one of the 50 greatest stand-up comedians of all time, and he earned a spot on GQ magazine’s list of the “most influential comedians of the 20th century.”
