Actor and comedian Richard Lewis has died, Deadline reports.
Richard Lewis died Tuesday evening at his home in Los Angeles.
This after suffering a heart attack, reports Deadline.
“His wife Joyce Lapinsky thanks for all the love, friendship and support. She asks to mourn in peace,” says Richard Lewis’ publicist in a comment.
Lewis was one of America’s most beloved and respected comedians.

Played himself in famous HBO series
He is known, among other things, for his role in the series “Curb your enthusiasm” where he acted against his colleague Larry David76.
Lewis played a semi-fictional version of himself in the series, which ran for 12 seasons on HBO.
Last April, Richard Lewis announced that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. In conjunction with this, Lewis announced that he would retire and end his stand-up career.
But he appeared in “Curb your enthusiasm” at regular intervals, also in the series’ new and final season.

Started his career in the 70s
Lewis became known for his black and self-deprecating humor. Among other things, he joked about his own addiction problems.
Lewis began his career on the New York City and Los Angeles comedy scenes in the 1970s. And he made his acting debut in 1979’s “Diary of a young comic”.
He achieved great success with his appearances on programs such as “The Tonight Show” and “Late Show With David Letterman”.
He has acted in a number of films and TV series, including “Robin Hood: Men in Tights” and “Anything but love”.
Richard Lewis was 76 years old.
