It has been reported that broadcaster Park Na-rae (38) was fined tens of millions of won in fines due to a tax investigation by the National Tax Service. Accordingly, the agency drew the line that it was not a matter related to tax evasion.

On the 26th, Aju Economic Daily reported that Mr. Park was subjected to an irregular (special) tax investigation by Investigation Bureau 2 of the Seoul Regional Tax Service at the end of last year, and tens of millions of won in unpaid taxes were collected.

Unlike regular tax audits, irregular tax audits are launched suddenly without prior notice. It will proceed if there is suspicion of tax evasion, such as a corporation or individual omitting income to be reported or confirming inappropriate expense claims.

In response to this, the agency JDB Entertainment said, “It is true that unpaid taxes were paid (during the tax investigation), but it was not for the purpose of tax evasion,” adding, “Regarding the taxes reported this time, there was a difference of opinion on the interpretation of tax laws during the coordination process between the tax authorities and tax accountants. “I just paid additional taxes,” he explained to the media.

The National Tax Service has been conducting tax investigations on celebrities, athletes, webtoon writers, YouTubers, etc. from last year to early this year. Earlier this year, actors Lee Byung-hun, Kim Tae-hee, Lee Min-ho, and Kwon Sang-woo were found to have abnormal transaction details and were fined hundreds of millions of won or as much as 1 billion won. However, they all stated, “It is just an accounting error and a difference in the interpretation of tax laws, and it is absolutely not tax evasion.”

Previously, Mr. Park became a hot topic by winning the bid for a 166-pyeong single-family home in Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul in 2021 for 5.5 billion won. This house, adjacent to Gyeongnidan-gil, was appraised at 6.09 billion won at the time, and has a five-room structure with one underground floor and two above-ground floors.

Mr. Park appeared on MBC’s ‘I Live Alone’ and ‘Save Me!’ Holmes’, tvN ‘Amazing Saturday – Doremi Market’, Channel A ‘Oh Eun-young’s Gold Counseling Center’, KBS ‘Walking Into the Fantasies’, MBN ‘Flaming Roses’, E Channel ‘I Like Food on Saturdays’, SBS ‘Large Survival’ -I am appearing on ‘Mukchippa’.
