Comedian Oshima’s Husband Opens Up About Their Fertility Journey on Instagram

Comedian trio Mori Shinchuu’s Miki Morishima (43), the wife of television writer Osamu Suzuki (51), updated her Instagram on the 11th, revealing that she is currently undergoing fertility treatment.

Suzuki, who is the father of their 8-year-old son, wrote, “I went for a semen analysis this morning at 8 o’clock. It’s fertility treatment at the age of 51. I want to do my best with my wife.” He continued, “Fertility treatment tends to be seen as a problem only for women, but it is a joint effort between men and women. I think it’s important for men to study and be positive.”

“I have always had some issues with my semen. Even this time, after a long time, I had a semen analysis. The motility rate is not high, and most importantly, the straight-moving sperm is low. I think it’s important to accept that there is a problem with myself,” Suzuki revealed in detail. He also shared a photo of the detailed invoice, saying, “I was told it was intracytoplasmic sperm injection, so I requested freezing. The cost of freezing is a little over 70,000 yen. Yes, it’s expensive!” He concluded his post by encouraging others who are undergoing fertility treatment, saying, “Let’s do our best!”

The post received comments such as “I’m cheering for you! Do your best,” “I sincerely pray that you and your wife overcome this difficulty and have a baby,” “I cried when I saw the birth of your son, Efu, on TV,” “Fertility treatment at the age of 51! Amazing! Please do your best with Ms. Oshima,” and “I hope you can take it slowly, take care of yourself, and move forward little by little with a positive attitude.”

Suzuki and Morishima got married in 2002. Morishima took a break from her entertainment activities in May 2014 after the recording of the Nippon TV program “Sekai no Hate Made ItteQ!” and focused on fertility treatment. Their first son, Efu-kun, was born in June 2015.
