Bert Visscher is doing well after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer last fall. “I think Visscher will last a few more years,” says the 62-year-old comedian in the AD.

“Everything looks good, I haven’t had any problems or felt any side effects,” says Visscher. “If all goes well, I’ll be completely cured.”

During try-outs of his solo performance You don’t see anyone else doing that! the disease was found in its early stages. “I felt tired and weak, so I went to the doctor with those complaints. My PSA value turned out to be slightly elevated.”

Visscher’s father died of prostate cancer. For this reason, the GP advised to investigate his complaints further.

“I turned out to have it, albeit at the earliest possible stage,” says Visscher. “Anyway: I was completely shocked. You think: now it’s my turn, now it goes wrong. I asked the doctor: is this my death sentence? No, he said, you will absolutely not die from this.”

Visscher does not rule out a return to cabaret

Visscher is now doing well again. He can be seen in the play from next month Ripperda and next fall he will continue touring with his last solo performance.

“Well, last one… I think so. But if I get a fantastic idea for a solo program in eight or nine years’ time, I’m really going to make it. But then the idea has to be really good.”
