The man who attacked stand-up comedian Dave Chappell during a show this spring has now been sentenced to nine months in prison.

In August, the man’s lawyer asked the court to place him in a program for the mentally challenged and therefore not to prosecute. But this was rejected. The man was sentenced to nine months in prison on Wednesday.
The LAPD said so NBC after the scene that the man was armed with a dummy weapon that could fire a knife blade, if primed correctly.
The initiation took place at Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles during the «Netflix Is a Joke» festival.
According to police, the man must have been in the audience before attacking Chappelle as the comedian was about to leave the stage.
Chappelle was about to finish the show when the accident occurred. Later, he is said to have joked about the incident and said, among other things, “I don’t know if that was part of the show?”
According to the Los Angeles Times, Chappelle said he spoke to the man who attacked him before police arrived. He is said to have later told Chappelle that the main reason for attacking him was that he wanted to draw attention to the fate of his grandmother who had been forced out of her Brooklyn neighborhood.
In 2015, another man insulted Chappelle on stage and landed himself in trouble with the law. That time the comedian got she threw banana peels at him.
