National team Spanish grabbed the win away to Georgia at 2022 World Cup qualifiers. Coming from behind first, Spain finally won 2-1.
Georgia vs Spain’s match in the 2022 World Cup qualifier was held at the Boris Paichadze Stadium, Monday (29/3/2021) early morning Western Indonesian Time.
Spain fell behind first after Georgia scored in the 43rd minute through Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s strike. The new visitors equalized in the 56th minute through Ferran Torres’ goal.
The Spanish victory is determined by Daniel Olmo in injury time. These results temporarily put Spain at the top of Group B with four points.
The course of the match
Spain got the first chance in the 11th minute. Ferran Torres’ shot forced Giorgi Loria into a save.
Georgia turns to threaten through Kashia’s header which maximizes a corner kick. However, Unai Simon reacted well to clear the ball.
Torres’s chance in the 42nd minute also did not produce a goal. His shot still bounced over the Georgia crossbar.
Georgia then opened the scoring in the 43rd minute. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia broke into the Spanish goal with a shot that led to the bottom corner of the Spanish goal.
Spain’s efforts to equalize just paid off in the 56th minute. Ferran Torres scored after using Jordi Alba’s pass. Alba’s bait failed to reach Alvaro Morata, but Torres was able to finish it.
Chance for Spain in the 77th minute. Jordi Alba takes a stab from the left and thrusts the ball at Olmo. Olmo then fired horizontally into the bottom corner of the net, but it was just wide of the target.
The pressure launched by Spain finally paid off in the 92nd minute. Receiving the ball from Alba, Daniel Olmo dribbled closer to the Georgia penalty box.
He then fired into the top corner of the Georgia goal. Loria brushed it off, but the ball went into the goal.
Towards the end of the match, Georgia must lose Shengelia. He received a red card from the referee for his tackle on Pedri.
