Riyadh: The General Roads Authority has announced that the construction of the second largest double sea bridge in Saudi Arabia has reached its final stage. The 3.2 km long double sea bridge is being built to connect Swafwa and Ras Tannura in the Eastern Region. 88 percent of the construction work has already been completed. The new bridge will provide entry and exit to Ras Tannoor.

The new bridge will help shorten the distance from Ras Tannoora to Dammam and Qatif. The new bridge will connect Ras Tannoora directly with Dammam King Fahd International Airport.

The new bridge is being built as part of efforts to improve land transport links between different cities and governments in Saudi Arabia and to facilitate the movement of people and goods between different areas in Saudi Arabia to position the country as strengthen global logistics center. The project includes the construction of 15 water drainage canals in Swafwa and nine water drainage canals in Ras Tannura and several tar works. The project will facilitate movement between areas in line with the objectives of the Roads Department Strategy. The project will also help increase the tourism sector by providing access to various tourist destinations in the Eastern Region.

The project is implemented to ensure high levels of quality and safety by implementing signboards, floor painting, vibration warning, ground signs, concrete barricades and many other works. These works aim to improve the level of safety on the road and to match the increasing demand on the road network to ensure the smooth flow of vehicular traffic.
