Come on, observe the total lunar eclipse with the Bosscha Observatory tomorrow, for free!

Jakarta – I can’t wait to see total lunar eclipse tomorrow night? To make it even more exciting, you can observe the phenomenon of this lunar eclipse while having a virtual discussion with the Bosscha Observatory of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), you know!

This virtual observation of the night sky (PVLM) of the total lunar eclipse with the Bosscha Observatory is broadcast live from Lembang and Kupang. You can follow the observations tomorrow via the Slido website and apps, and watch the live broadcast of these observations on the Bosscha Observatory Youtube channel starting at 17.00 WIB.

The Night Sky Virtual Observation (PVLM) is a virtual program for the Bosscha Observatory for those of you who want to observe extraterrestrial phenomena. The observatory itself has closed visiting services for the public since March 2020 due to the pandemic.

Through PVLM, you can gain knowledge of astronomy through the Bosscha Observatory telescope from home, namely through platforms such as Youtube and Slido.

Bosscha Observatory researcher Yatny Yulianty said the observation of the total lunar eclipse will be carried out in Bandung and Kupang.

“The observatory is in collaboration with the University of Nusa Cendana in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, the astronomy lover community of East Sky Lovers (Pelati), and an amateur astronomer from Kupang, Zulkarnain,” said Yanty in an official statement from Bosscha, Tuesday (25/5/2021) .

Yanti explained, observing the lunar eclipse in Kupang is easier to do and the potential for moon sighting is higher because of the higher position of the moon, and the weather is brighter than in Bandung.

This phenomenon is also referred to as super blood moon this will last a total of 5 hours.

Apart from making observations, PVLM this May will also be accompanied by light discussions about total lunar eclipse. The discussion invited speakers from the Astronomy Study Program Expertise Group Ferry M. Simatupang, Bosscha Observatory astronomer Muhammad Yusuf, lecturers from the University of Nusa Cendana Andreas Ch. Louk, and amateur astronomer Zulkarnain.

PVLM can be watched on the Bosscha Observatory and Slido Youtube channels starting at 17.00 WIB. By joining Slido, people can participate in interactive discussion sessions such as asking questions, answering questions, and participating in polls.

If you take part in the PVLM of the lunar eclipse through Slido, you can interact directly and discuss the Q&A session with astronomers from the Bosscha Observatory, ITB, and Nusa Cendana University. Viewers via Slido will also receive an e-card with an image of the observation result sent via email.

The video quality presented via Slido will be better than broadcast via Youtube. The quota for PVLM participants via Slido is limited to 700 participants. If you are interested, register beforehand via the link bit.ly/PVLM2021 or https://bosscha.itb.ac.id/id/layanan/pvlm/ yes. Registration opens today, Tuesday (25/05/2021) starting at 19.00 WIB.

Because GBT can be seen in most regions in Indonesia, you can also witness the total lunar eclipse directly in their respective regions.

You can also share photos of the total lunar eclipse from each area with the Bosscha Observatory by mentioning the Instagram account @bosschaobservatory and the hashtags # gbtbosscha2021 and # gerhanabulantotal2021.

Even more exciting, the Indonesian National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) also held a Total Lunar Eclipse Photo Contest which prizes merchandise for the three best photographs. LAPAN also held observation broadcasts and talk shows via Live Streaming #GlipbulanTotal on the LAPAN RI Youtube channel, Wednesday, May 26, 2021 starting at 15.45 WIB.

Well, I can’t wait to see total lunar eclipse with the Bosscha Observatory? Come on, install an alarm tomorrow afternoon at 17.00 WIB!
