Bernhard Gruber ends his combination winter prematurely. The 37-year-old from Salzburg had to cope with health setbacks over and over again this season.
“You really can’t get any worse, as much bad luck as I had this year with illness and infections,” is the disappointed Bad Hofgasteiner, who has not been top this winter.
The team Olympic champion in the Nordic combined was late in the season after an intestinal infection and had to deal with the after effects in the course of the winter. The flu caught him the previous week. “It is definitely too much, training and competitions are currently out of the question,” Gruber has to admit.
“My body is forcing me to end the season early.”
Gruber wants to “cure himself in peace” in order to start “relaxed and fit in training” for you next season.
